Shed Roof Leaking Through Nails

I secured the side overhangs with timber which i screwed on i m praying that i ve done it properly and it won t leak as i ve been suffering with it leaking like a colander for about 3 years.

All went well until i went into the shed looked up and saw that the clout nails had come through the roof by a couple of mill. I didn t get any black residue on my hands at all i used felt nails a short one for the top of the roof and the longer ones for securing the overhangs. Even on a normal shed roof i have seen water drive under a 4 inch nailed lap. As i said those waterproof mastics and adhesives help glue felt down but on a shed where the structure is moving and felt vibrating in the wind they are not suitable to use as waterproofing in my opinion.

I think the rain is coming in through a couple of gaps somehow by the nails i used clout nails maybe if i put another lot of felt on roof but be more careful on the angle they go in dawn78.

And just one rusted out nail can cause your roof to leak every time it rains. Is this a problem. Some roof leaks are tough to locate. These nails will eventually rust.
